The Love Capacity Gap™
When the depth of someone's feelings exceeds their capacity to sustain the relationship those feelings create.
The Love Capacity Gap™ describes what can happen when someone experiences genuine connection, attraction, or emotional intensity, but does not have the emotional, relational, or practical capacity to consistently sustain the relationship.
This can create an especially confusing experience: the feelings may have been real, while the capacity to carry them forward was limited.
The framework shifts the question from:
“Did they really feel what I thought they felt?”
to:
“Did they have the capacity to sustain what they felt?”
The Love Capacity Gap™ was developed by Rachel Oliver, MSW, RSW, creator of The Modern Love Method™.
